Affordable and Portable Art Show Tables
When I began selling at art shows five years ago, I was determinedly to fit my entire set up in my Subaru Legacy. I have since expanded to a slightly larger car; but, it is still a car. Being a jeweler, I know it is much easier to travel with my art than a ceramic artist, but it still takes a lot of furniture to properly display my creations. I am constantly changing my display–it’s sort of an obsession. I found several tables that fit in my car, look professional (very important), and are affordable. I’ve used almost all of these at some point!
(1) The ladder shelf looks best with a wooden ladder. I found nice vintage one at the Habitat restore for $10. I then purchase a 12″x8′ board and cut some shelves.
(2) The industrial strength Lifetime table I found on Amazon. It is tall enough to to keep the product high and is really sturdy. Some nice linens are a must with this option.
(3) You can purchase hairpin legs online and bolt them on a table top before each show. I love the open look without table linens.
(4) I love the industrial pipe look. It’ll take a little time during set-up to screw everything together. They are sturdy and won’t blow over.
(5) My Dad and I made replicas of these hairpin legs so I only have to bolt on two legs to each table. It’ll save time during set-up.
(6) You can find this folding bookshelf on Amazon or Target. I have two narrower versions. They are great because they fold flat and aren’t too heavy to carry. The wood is not a very high quality, so mine have had many repairs over the years.
Play around with your set up to find what works best for you. Thrift store and garage sales are a good place to start looking for creative and affordable options.
Happy creating!
